Adsense: Are You Unknowingly Displaying Interest-Based Ads? Check Your Settings!
Hi all,
I don't know if this is a default setting in Adsense or not, but I just realized I have been displaying User Interest-Based Ads, and decided to turn this setting off so that all ads displayed on my sites are only related to its content.
What are User Interest-Based Ads?
Basically these ads could have nothing to do with your niche or site content. Instead, it looks like the ads are displayed based on the recent browsing history of the user, and their demographics.
Should you switch this off?
Not sure, it's up to you. I guess you would need to split test.
But if you want to turn this setting off, so you can be sure all the ads displayed are all based on your site topic and content, here's how:
- Click the 'Allow & block Ads' tab
- Click 'Advanced Settings' in the sidebar
- You will see the "Interst-Based Ads Preference" option.
Hopefully this helps somebody!
Cheers,
